ACL 2023, What to Know!

One of the most anticipated events of the year in Austin, Texas among locals is definitely the Austin City Limits music festival. ACL is one of the best ways to immerse yourself in true Austin culture and discover bands or acts you wouldn’t otherwise know or watch some of the most well known artists. I am going to give you a complete guide to ACL and how to get the most out of your experience for your next ACL experience.

But, before you enter the festival here are some places that I recommend to give you some sustenance and fuel for the concerts ahead and possibly some grub after the festival. If you want to be near the entrance to ACL then I recommend going to the original Chuy’s on Barton Springs for amazing Tex-Mex and a refreshing margarita…or two! If you are looking for some places where you can get a drink before the festival then definitely check out the Johnny Cash themed bar, The Mean Eyed Cat which will be closest to the north entrance. If you are looking for more late night bites after the festival then I suggest hitting up Whataburger, Pluckers, Kerbey Lane Cafe or Zombie Taco all of which are open until 2 or three in the morning.

The thrill of being with your friends and being able to see some of your favorite bands play can be exciting but here are some things to be aware of next time you go to ACL. Your wristband for ACL allows you to put money on it and I suggest you do so you don’t have to worry about your wallet or the possibility of your purse or wallet being stolen. Be sure to also plan a meetup spot with friends just in case you get separated while enjoying the music or the other attractions at ACL. Another tip I have for you is to plan the daily schedule in advance so you don’t miss any of your favorite shows. You will definitely look like a seasoned ACL goer next time you attend having all of these tips in mind. Also, be sure to bring some type of reusable water bottle because it definitely gets hot in this Texas heat and there are tons of water refilling stations with ice.
